When I visited the Cabot House, where most of their operations are run out of, I was able to sit down and talk with Susan Goganian, Director of Historic Beverly. While talking with her, I got to hear from her what Historic Beverly does and how they are able to accomplish what they do.
The very first thing she talked about was the three historical properties Historic Beverly owns. On top of the Cabot House, they also own Hale Farm and the Balch House. While discussing this, she said that they will never be able to purchase another building. Historical buildings take a lot of time and money to properly maintain. If their history wants to be upheld in good condition, it takes commitment. Goganian said that there is already such a large amount of work, and adding another building would put them over the top (S. Goganian, personal communication, December 4, 2024).
