We maintain approximately 75-80 wether dams that are great females and outstanding producers. Our female lines come from Ahart, Asmus, C&E, and Mickelson genetics. Our goal is to have structurally sound females that do well in irrigated pasture systems and produce quality lambs for area youth.
In 2016, we invested in a small group of ewe lambs from Wishbone Ranch (Pettey family in Red Bluff). These ewes were exceptionally well bred, seedstock oriented, Southdown females. Since that time, we have added to our flock with Hilmar Farms and Myers Southdown genetics. We have the goal of producing seedstock Southdowns for breeders that will be functional females and provide outstanding genetics.
Both of our flocks are registered in the National Sheep Improvement Program and Superior Farms Flock 54 as both an educational and selection tool.
Our ewes graze over 30 acres of irrigated pasture and are supplemented during late gestation and lactation. We wean our lambs at about 60 days of age and creep feed lambs to ensure a smooth transition through the weaning process. Our bulk grain is an 18% grain mix that contains a lot of the features of show feeds to ensure that youth have lambs that are easy to feed and make the transition to their new homes!
