New federal regulations require that all online courses meet ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance standards. As a result, all faculty are now required to ensure their online content is accessible to all students, including those with disabilities. Examples of required elements include closed captions on every video, alt text on every image, and proper heading structures on every document.
To support faculty in meeting these requirements, CFCC has developed a training course in Canvas titled "Digital Accessibility." In addition, we’ve implemented a third-party tool called YuJa Panorama to help identify and improve accessibility issues within course materials.
All faculty are required to complete the Digital Accessibility course in Canvas upon hire.
