In this course we will explore the process, equipment and implementation of lighting design for the stage. You will learn to evaluate a script for its lighting possibilities and how to implement your ideas into a final design. You will learn to hang and focus a variety of lighting equipment and how to program a lighting board.

Upon completion of this course a student will be able to:
1. Analyze and interpret play scripts with the objective of producing a practical lighting design
2. Prepare a lighting design for live performance through research and appropriate visual reference resources
3. Demonstrate mastery of basic lighting terminology
4. Use the various types of supporting paperwork including instrumental schedules, channel and circuit sheets, equipment and color lists
5. Organize and articulate a dynamic theatrical lighting in collaboration with other theatre artists such as directors, setting and costume designers
