This course will introduce you to the scientific study of psychology. We will cover issues such as development across the lifespan, gender/ sexuality, memory, social relationships, mental disorders and their treatments, and the brain. The course will be an introduction to the field, so we will focus on selected sub-fields, and you will get an overview of many areas in psychology. If you find you are interested in a particular sub-field, I encourage you to follow up with more specialized courses.
Since this is an entirely online class, we will NOT be having any face-to-face meetings as a class (but you are welcome at my office hours. The course will be run entirely on Canvas, our learning management system at CCSF. A few days before the class starts, all students who are enrolled in the class will receive a welcome letter from me that includes instructions for logging onto Canvas.
If my class is full when you try to register, please add yourself to the waitlist for this section. If the waitlist is full, then I recommend checking back frequently (daily is best) to see if spots on the waiting list have opened up. This is the only way you will have the chance of adding to a full course before the semester starts. Once the class has started, you may email to check if spots have opened up.
To check out further details about the class, here's the syllabus. (Coming soon... I can't write the syllabus until I figure out more stuff about the course.)
