About Dr. Elkan

Daniel Acosta Elkan, Ph.D. is an Instructor in the Department of Latino/a Studies at City College of San Francisco. He has taught at City since 2018, and also holds teaching appointments at San Francisco State University and Los Medanos College. Dan holds a B.A. in Political Science from Seton Hall University, a M.A. in American Studies from the University at Buffalo, and a Ph.D. in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University. His academic research focuses on Puerto Ricans in the U.S., especially in New York City between 1917 and 1948. His hobbies include exploring the California coast and watching science fiction television.
