Teaching Diverse Learners

In this section of my digital portfolio, I include a research paper which dives into cultural identity and social acceptance. It's important for educators to understand who they are and how they are privileged before teaching their students. In the paper, I discuss dominant cultural norms and how I do and don't conform with these norms. I then discuss how schools can move in the direction of having a true multicultural, anti-racist education so that students can find themselves and grow. I also include a lesson plan which is targeted to explore ways in which we are all different and then celebrating those differences. This lesson was made for the Book Club's multicultural theme week.
