One of the units that my Film Studies students explored was Film Noir. This unit culminated with their writing, filming, and editing original films inspired by the Film Noir genre. Interested in seeing student short films - let me know! (Spoiler alert - their films are pretty awesome!)

One of my favorite lessons that I’ve taught in 9th grade English has been on perspective. In this lesson, we watched the short Disney version of The Three Little Pigs and then I read my students The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. We discussed how telling the story from the wolf’s perspective changed how the story was understood. As a creative response summative assessment, students created their own shifted perspective stories.

Additionally, our ensemble scene and individual events placed in the top 7!
