I entered this class hoping to develop skills that would make me a more well-rounded teacher. I need no help learning biology or getting excited about it, but that passion may be difficult to inspire in students. This class has illuminated some methods of engagement and literacy that have proven much more successful in this field.

I hope to use the discussion protocols that we had in this class going forward - while science cannot always be taught through discussion, it can be inspiring for students to feel a part of the discovery, as we did. 

The activity I'm most committed to trying is the field experience. My school will be right next to Prospect Park, so this will be a pretty obvious context to give to Biology. Our field work was where I felt the most engaged with the ideas of the class, even though I was mostly just walking and sketching. I found the ability to express the ideas graphically allowed a lot of creative freedom and relieved a lot of stress. You'll see through this class's portfolio section that the field experiences are where I was able to really harness multimodal skills. The practice of noticing is imperative for discovery.
