New york ...or gotham???

The story of how this journal's cover was designed pretty much sums up my life; I do whatever brings me joy with hopes of everything coming together. Using spray paint, a stencil of a city, and a batman sticker, I've turned a few mistakes into a work of art.

This is a depiction of how I viewed the state of NYC after the knicks became champions (especially since Taylor Swift was planning a wedding to be held at Madison Square Garden. The city was filled with so much prided yet a dark cloud, of violence and havok, would not go away. Batman is literally our only hope & he isn't even from here.

The readings throughout Design Lab challenged me to rethink what creativity, learning, and education can look like. Many of the authors explored the importance of maker spaces, culturally relevant teaching, critical thinking, and allowing students to become active creators rather than just receivers of information. The readings emphasized that art and design are not only about creating a final product, but about the process of experimenting, problem solving, expressing identity, and learning through mistakes. Topics such as culturally responsive education, social justice, and creativity showed me that every student brings their own experiences and perspectives into the classroom. Overall, these readings helped me understand that meaningful learning happens when students have the freedom to question, create, collaborate, and connect their personal stories to what they are learning.

UNSANCTIONED ART

I shall shoot my shot at graffiti at sooner or later

Exploring sanctioned and unsanctioned art showed me that creativity exists in many different forms and spaces. Sanctioned art is created with permission and often has the purpose of representing a community, sharing a message, or transforming public spaces in an organized way. Unsanctioned art, although not always approved, represents raw expression and gives artists the opportunity to leave their mark, share their identity, and turn everyday environments into unexpected canvases. Both forms require imagination, skill, and courage. Similar to what we learned in Design Lab, art is not only about where it is displayed but about the story, emotion, and conversation it creates.

On my hunt for art I decided to venture off into a new form of art, something Ive either never done or rarely do.
