The Silk Road was a trade route over 6400 km long, that went from China to Eastern Europe. It went along the northern borders of China, India, Persia and ended up in Eastern Europe near the Mediterranean Sea. This allowed China to be linked to the western world. The silk road began during the Han dynasty, and was not an actual road.
This was an important route because it allowed trade and commerce to generate between different countries and empires. This helped for ideas, culture, inventions and unique products to spread across much of the settled world.
