My Memories at Baden- Powell

By Ashley Reynoso

I have been a Baden Powell Roadrunner for 7 years and those years have given me a lot of memories. It has been a journey and a struggle throughout the years, but I gave it my all through every challenge I dealt with.

Here at Baden- Powell I was a part of PAL, Student Council, Library Club, Ecology Club and Yearbook. At first I was very shy and didn’t want to be a part of anything, but little by little I found the courage to join these clubs and activities. Running for Student Council was very hard and scary for me, but I got through it.

I loved going to school, but for every subject, it was always hard for me to do the work. I struggled a lot, especially in 4th, 5th,and 6th grade. I freaked out when we had to do a test. Towards the end of the test there was an essay and I would be taking a long time on my essay. There were many times that I felt like I couldn’t do my homework and I wanted to give up. I never gave up because my teachers helped me all the way and believed in me, especially Mrs.Morrison, Mrs.Shimizu, Mrs. Greig-Ragen, Mrs.Barkley, and Mrs. Ledda. Thank you for believing in me.

Everybody at school knew me because I was Ms. Tran's daughter from day one. I liked it because I was famous. Through these years, everyone has learned how kind, sweet, and helpful I am.

Some things I will never forget are having fun with Mrs. Barkley and watching “Little House on the Prairie.” Other things I will never forget about Baden Powell were the activities, field trips, and assemblies we had and the many visits I made to the health office. I will also never forget the many times my teacher had me scare my mom while she was teaching.

Baden-Powell has been an awesome school and I will never forget it. Thank you Ms. Ledda for helping me through outdoor ed and letting me know that I will be fine.

Baden-Powell Memories

By Ismael Thiam

Lord Baden Powell, I can’t believe this journey is coming to an end. I’m proud to call myself a BP alumni. For the past 10 years from my first year of preschool to 6th grade I've been filled with unbelievable memories, but let’s start of year by year.

First are my two years of preschool. I will always remember preschool because that’s where I met some of my best friends. In preschool I met my good friend Kareem, Erick Y, and last but not least Diego S. Something I will never forget is the fact that every day I would throw up and my dad would come from work to pick me up. (That’s probably because of the school lunch that I wasn’t used to.)

Next is transitional kindergarten. My TK teacher was Mrs. Gibson. I loved TK. That was also the year I met Diego Z, Jesus, Shia, Madden, and Carwyn. I will never forget that after every lunch we would go and take 30 minute naps.

Next is kindergarten. My teacher was Mrs. Han. I loved that class because of all the activities we did. I remember we had “Water Day” and we were playing in the water. The funny thing about that day was when I touched the hose and I got in trouble for 2 minutes like I committed a major crime.

After that is first grade. In first grade I met my good friend Justin, but he moved in fifth Grade. My teacher was Mrs. Nguyen. I don’t remember much of first grade, but I remember for picture day I wore a suit and when I look at that picture today I cringe.

Now let's move on to second Grade. My teacher was Mr. Roque. My favorite memory was when we had a special lunch with Mr. Roque if you had 100 AR points. There were three people, including me. Mr. Roque ordered Jack In The Box, so we got what we wanted. I ordered the Double Jack which was a big burger, a milkshake, and curly fries. I finished all of it and I was so full I didn’t feel like moving. Everyone was shocked that I killed my meal. That’s also where I met Mario H.

Time for third Grade! My teacher was Mrs. Carik. I remember the first essay I did in third Grade, after every paragraph we were supposed to indent but I didn’t, so when I showed my essay to Mrs. Carik, she asked “ This is all one paragraph?” Luckily I didn’t have to write it all over again.

For both fourth and fifth my teacher was Mrs. Bugaren. My favorite memory in fourth grade was doing the Living Museum. It was really embarrassing talking about Cesar Chavez like I was him. My favorite memory in 5th Grade was when we had math class with Mr. Bruce. It was really funny because we would watch math videos on YouTube every single day and wouldn’t get homework. Then one day we went to Mrs. Barkley for math and we were absolutely confused with the lesson. Fifth Grade is also the year where I became good friends with Andre.

Now last but not least it is time for 6th Grade. My teacher was Miss Cox. I had a lot of great memories including my top favorite that many others loved. One night we were at camp. It was me, AJ, Thomas, Nathan, Chris, Jose, Mario, Albert (Who looked exactly like Diego S), Mr. Diego and the other cabin leader. After dinner we decided to play Uno. I was actually in a great position to win the game. I had only 3 or 4 cards left. Then all of the other players had reverse cards, so when it was about to be my turn the player before me pulled out his reverse card. I was like okay it’s just one reverse card. It’s about to be my turn and the same thing happens. In my mind I was like what is going on and then you guessed it happened again. At that point in the game I got really mad and started raging. But as I think about it now I can’t stop laughing.

I love Baden Powell so much and I am grateful that I was able to learn here and make a whole lot of friends who care and support you no matter what. I can’t believe this journey is coming to an end. I thank all my teachers, Mr. Bailey, and Mr. Aguila. Thanks to all the cafeteria workers, and last but not least thank you Baden-Powell!

This Year

By Johanna Rosales

I have experienced a lot in 6th grade. From the first of school, I knew it was going to be a great year and the teachers are really nice and amazing. Thanks to the teachers for everything they have done for us. I was looking forward to making more memories with everyone. All the field trips and laughing with friends, I am going to remember all those memories.

A lot of amazing things have happened this year, like we went to the senior citizen center and asked them questions. We got our 6th grade hoodies which are amazing. I learned a lot in 6th grade. If we need help with anything the teachers help us. I was put in a math group because I was having trouble with math and I got better. It pushed me to work harder. Even if people are being disruptive at the end of the day we end it off good.

In my opinion I think going to school is better than doing online school. I really want to go to school and see everyone. My favorite part of the day is when we walk in and talk about stuff and write down the precept. After every semester we have a bazaar, one that is fun because we get to sell stuff and buy stuff with our class money. When we went on that one field trip to the Getty Villa in LA, I loved it because it was pretty. I told myself I would one day go back over there because they have amazing statues and they have an amazing view of the ocean. It was a great experience. I just wanted to say thank you to Miss Cox and Ms. Ledda for everything you guys did for us and making sure we're doing what we're supposed to do.

In the Future…

By Clarissa Soto

I’ve been through a lot all throughout school in elementary, and I am really looking forward to achieving new things that I want to do in junior high. Junior high is going to be a new thing for me to experience, so hopefully everything will go great there and I will do as much as I want to do in junior high.

I want to continue to make new friends, meet new people, and to become popular and well known. I want to become close with everyone and have good relationships. It’s always good to have a great reputation because then I am making a good impression. Having a lot of good friends that I can trust is always a good feeling. Being popular can even affect how teachers think of me in a good way.

I would love to choose honor classes in junior high and to be accepted into them. I am up for challenging experiences, and I want to work hard and study hard to be qualified as an honors student. I am really looking forward to trying my best to listen and to pay attention as much as I can. I am always up for learning new challenging stuff. I want to learn new skills in each class.

Trying new classes is fun.

Going to different classes and learning new things sounds so fun. I am so excited to do new things in junior high. It will be a big new experience for me. I want to learn how to sew, draw professionally, cook, build things, do big projects in groups, and to present. I want to do all the fun things in each classroom and know a lot of things that I never knew about. Having different classes to go to and to keep up on may be stressful but I am down for it because I want to learn and keep going!

A big thing about school for me is my grades. I need to focus on my grades and start making an effort to improve them. My grades are a big priority to me, and I am absolutely looking forward to trying as best as I can to raise them up. I am hoping during junior high, I will improve my grades and try my hardest. I will do all my homework and make sure that any assignments aren’t missed. I won't be too focused on friends, I will try to focus on school more and ignore other people.

I am also looking forward to doing well in English class. I am pretty good at writing. I really love writing about different things and it’s fun for me. I’m not very creative, but I can come up with words to add in essays or stories to make it sound better. Writing makes me feel out there, sometimes. I enjoy it and I am looking forward to improving my writing skills to come up with more things in all my writings.

As a final point, I am going to try to do all these things I have explained in each paragraph. Hopefully, I get to achieve most, but not all. Doing these things will make junior high so fun for me and I’ll be so happy. Either way, if I don't get to do all the things I want to do, I will still be happy and I’ll be grateful for whatever I get and what I end up with. I hope that I’ll be happy in this school with my old friends, and it will be a nice fresh start for me. I can feel that the future ahead of me will be a great time for me.

WISHING YOU WELL...
