Why Starlings?

The Madison Starlings is a division of Starlings Volleyball, USA, whose mission is to "positively impact the life of at-risk girls through the sport of volleyball".

Provide Opportunity for All

The primary goal of the Madison Starlings Volleyball Club is to provide affordable, high-quality club volleyball to Madison area youth. We strive to have entry level instruction and options for involvement ranging from highly competitive teams to open gyms for skill instruction. What makes us stand apart from other clubs is that we offer membership options that include volunteer opportunities to earn your membership fees, allowing those youth and families previously excluded from participation due to economics, an opportunity to participate . We address the disparities of access in our community and compete at the highest level.

Historically, suburban districts have had stronger high school sports programs, due in part to access to club volleyball experience. Madison Starlings locates our practices and attempts to be accessible to urban schools and communities to provide improved access to previously under-represented youth. Urban volleyball high school teams historically have not reflected the racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of the school populations they represent. Previously, varsity and junior varsity teams were dominated by athletes whose families could afford off-season club play. Madison Starlings has since 2011 been a force for increasing access to all, regardless of income and zip code.
