Whether you are a student exploring faith, a local resident curious about Orthodoxy, or someone seeking a spiritual home, we are thrilled to welcome you. Our services are primarily in English, and all people, regardless of background, are welcome to attend the Divine Liturgy.
The Orthodox Liturgy is a profoundly sensory experience—a taste of Heaven on Earth—that engages sight (icons and candles), smell (incense), and sound (sung prayers and chanting).
Here are a few things to keep in mind to help you feel comfortable:
Standing and Sitting: We traditionally stand for much of the service as a sign of respect and resurrection, but please feel free to sit down whenever you need to—especially if the Liturgy runs its full length of 90 minutes or more.
Gestures are Optional: You will see the congregation frequently making the Sign of the Cross (from right shoulder to left shoulder) or bowing before icons. These are acts of devotion for the faithful; please do not feel obligated to join in these gestures. Simply standing and listening is a perfect way to worship.
Holy Communion: The Sacrament of Holy Communion is reserved for baptized and Chrismated (confirmed) members of the canonical Eastern Orthodox Church who have prepared themselves for the Eucharist. We ask that visitors do not approach the chalice.
Blessed Bread (Antidoron): Following the service, all visitors and guests are invited to come forward to receive a piece of blessed bread (Antidoron) from the priest. This is a sign of Christian fellowship and a way to receive a blessing before you depart.
We look forward to seeing you and encourage you to join us for coffee and a light meal and introduce yourself to Fr. Gregory after the service!
