Curriculum

The ESL curriculum in an ESL pull out model could be hard to visualize. Should we support the content? should we teach just English? Where do I start? Is your current curriculum non existing, outdated or not functional? How can I keep continuity when I do not know when to start?

ESL K-5 Newcomer Curriculum

Select materials wisely. materials that will support your needs, vision and budget.

Oral Skills: Provide opportunities to speak and practice. Vocabulary themes.

Accelerated phonics program.

Older learners? 4th, 5th middle school? if they are newcomers/beginners where do I start? The sequence is clear and can be easily correlated with the content.

It is ok to teach just English!

And what about Math and ELA? How am I going to support the language of the other subjects?

WIDA? Keep in mind it is a pull out model it can be efficient differently.
