offering FOUR course groupings

The 2022 STEAM Academy has been developed using Course Groupings that are designed to keep students of a specific range together. Four groupings have been developed for students entering grades 1 through 12 during the 2021-2022 school year, and students may fit into a course grouping based on age or prior experience and skill. In addition to exploring different topics, Course Groupings may also have different daily schedules and instructional styles to better suit the student population within each group. Group 1

Group 1 is recommended for students entering 1st through 3rd grade for the 2021-2022 school year with some or no prior experience with course content.

Topics and daily routines for courses in Group 1 are geared toward our youngest students. Both AM and PM Group 1 courses will challenge students through engaging and exciting exploration and activities through unique topics and themes from week to week. This will allow students to attend either half-day or full-day programs with exciting experiences and success within the each content area of the course. All courses for Group 1 will be unique from week to week and offer a hands-on, lab like experience broken up by mini experiments and activities that cater to the unique needs of students within this group.

Group 2

Group 2 is recommended for students entering 4th through 6th grade for the 2021-2022 school year with little or no prior experience with course content.

Themes of these courses are paired specifically for the age and typical prior experiences for students that fall into Group 2. A topic-specific and hands-on lab-like course will be paired each week allowing students who attend either half-day or full-day programs to have enriching experiences catered to their own interests and passions. Each week of Group 2 courses will offer numerous unique challenges and themes for students who attend more than a single week.

Group 3

Group 3 is recommended for students entering 6th through 8th grade for the 2021-2022 school year, or students with some understandings and prior experience with course content.

AM and PM course offerings are vary between topic-specific and open-ended hands-on learning that have been paired to suit the needs of the students attending either half-day or full-day programs with engaging and exciting activities throughout the day! These courses offer a more advanced, real-world experience with skills to allow students to achieve higher level content and create unique products from their own imagination while still offering a fun and engaging set of activities. Each week of Group 3 courses will offer numerous unique challenges and themes for students who attend more than a single week.

Group 4

Group 4 is recommended for students entering 9th through 12th grade for the 2021-2022 school year, or students with intermediate understandings and prior experience with course content.

Pulled from industry-standards, Group 4 courses are geared to prepare students for higher level topics and future careers. With both topic-specific and hands-on courses tied to professional STEAM fields, students attending either half-day or full-day programs will be challenged to design, create, and test real-world solutions from their own imagination and passions. Each week of Group 4 courses will offer numerous unique challenges and themes for students who attend more than a single week.
