Anorexia nervosa is when people avoid food, restrict food intake to a severe level or eat small quantities of food. Checking weight regularly can also be a warning sign. Body dysmorphia is a main identifier. Even if someone is deemed underweight, they might still see themselves as overweight. There are two subtypes of anorexia: "restrictive" and "binge-purge". In the restrictive subtype, people might severely limit their food intake. Alternatively, someone experiencing binge-purge anorexia restricts their eating but sometimes has binge eating episodes followed by vomiting or attempts to force out what was consumed through other methods such as exercise.
