What is Troubleshooting?
Troubleshooting means trying a few quick steps to resolve a tech issue on your own—like fixing a grade sync problem or getting assignments to appear in your LMS. Try the steps listed for your issue below; they often solve the problem without needing to wait for support.
Having trouble with grade syncing or missing assignments in your LMS (Canvas, D2L, or Blackboard)?
These steps usually solve the issue:
✅ Make sure your Achieve course is linked to your LMS through Macmillan Course Tools (look for this link in your LMS)
🔄 Manually sync grades from Macmillan Course Tools if they aren’t appearing
🔗 If the connection still seems off, try unlinking and relinking your Achieve course
❌ If syncing fails, delete the assignment from your LMS (including the gradebook) and then re-deploy it directly from Achieve
🧭 Check that assignments and folders are published/visible in your LMS
🌐 Use a supported browser—Google Chrome works best
🧹 Clear your browser’s cache and cookies, then log back into your LMS and Achieve
If you're trying to link Achieve to your LMS (Canvas, D2L, Blackboard) and no courses show up to select, that typically means you don’t yet have an Achieve course created for the current semester.
What to do:
📩 Check with your course coordinator to request a course be built for you
OR
🛠️ Create or copy your own course in Achieve using these steps:
📎 Create a new Achieve course
Once your course is created, you’ll be able to return to the LMS and complete the linking process.
If your Achieve assignments aren’t showing up in Canvas, D2L, or Blackboard, here are a few things to check:
✅ Did you follow the deployment steps when setting up your course?
Assignments must be deployed from Achieve into your LMS using the “Send to LMS” or “Deploy” option.

Don't see your LMS?
Click here to search for alternative learning management systems in the Achieve Knowledge Base. Alternatively, you can reach out to your Macmillan Learning contact, or click the "Chat with Macmillan Tech Support" at the bottom of this screen.
🔄 Try running a Content Refresh in Macmillan Course Tools
This will push any recent changes or assignments you’ve added in Achieve into your LMS.
Go to Macmillan Course Tools in your LMS > click “Content Refresh”
🔐 Still not syncing? Try Grade Sync Token Registration
This step resets the connection between Achieve and your LMS and can fix sync issues.
Go to Macmillan Course Tools > look for an option like “Register Grade Sync Token” and follow the prompts.
Student access to Achieve depends on your institution’s setup, so it’s always best to confirm the details with your coordinator or department chair. In general, there are two common access models:
Inclusive Access (IA):
If your school participates in IA, students have already paid for their course materials and will receive automatic access to Achieve on day one. For this to work, Achieve must be integrated into your LMS before the course begins. Once integrated, students simply click any Achieve-linked item in the LMS to get started—no additional registration or purchase needed.
Direct Purchase:
If your school does not use Inclusive Access, you can direct students to purchase Achieve through the Macmillan Student Store or your campus bookstore. After purchase, students can access Achieve and the eBook either via the LMS or directly through Achieve, depending on your preference and how the course is set up.
If your students are having trouble accessing your course, assignments, or eBook, there are two quick ways to get help:
