This page has been prepared to guide Year 8 students and their parents through the subject selection process for Year 9 in 2026. The St Mary MacKillop College vertical program at Year 9 and Year 10 aims to be a significant and positive experience in the life of our students. We acknowledge the particular needs of adolescents and strive to provide opportunities for each student to become independent and active learners through a rich and innovative curriculum, a curriculum that awakens and stimulates the intelligence. Each section below provides information on the programs and subjects offered in Year 9 at St Mary MacKillop College.

Over the two years of the vertical curriculum, students must study one elective for a semester from each of the following areas:
Arts (Media Arts, Performing Arts, Visual ArtsDrama, Dance, Media Art, Music, Visual Art, Visual Communication)
Design and Technologies (Agriculture, Digital, Food, Wood/Metal, Textiles)
Economics
Additional elective subjects are available, but students must ensure they have completed the required units as part of their elective sequence.
