To ensure that we continue to meet the challenge of providing programs that cater for a range of types and stages of learning, St Mary MacKillop College has developed a Senior School structure which allows students to access a variety of subjects and pathways designed to provide each student with the maximum flexibility to meet their learning needs and to attain the certification most relevant to their future education and employment goals. For a typical Year 10 student, the majority of their studies will continue to be based on the Victorian Curriculum. At Year 10 there is an option of accelerating into a VCE unit, provided the student meets the requirements outlined in the St Mary MacKillop College VCE Acceleration Policy. Students in Year 11 and 12 are able to undertake a Vocational Education and Training (VET) certificate as part of their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). The VCE Vocational Major (VM) and Victorian Pathways Certificate are also offered.
If you are new to the Senior School, the range of programs and the acronyms involved can be a little confusing. Here are some resources to introduce you to the programs and concepts referred to when discussing subject selection in the Senior School.
