Through peer-to-peer education, advocacy, and collaboration with campus and community members, the Peer Health Educators encourage their peers to make healthy life choices supporting their academic and personal goals.
The Peer Health Education Team (PHET) facilitates health promotion activities like table displays, wellness stations, collaboration projects, and posts on social media to support our campus' wellness! We engage with our peers to provide helpful wellness information from a student perspective!

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as "A state of complete physical, social and mental well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."
What is Well-being?
The WHO defines well-being as "a positive state experienced by individuals and societies. Similar to health, it is a resource for daily life and is determined by social, economic and environmental conditions."

Hello! I am Abiya, and I am a third-year Bachelor of Science Student. I am looking forward to promoting health and wellness for students around campus, which can improve students' experiences on campus. Above all, I am really excited to meet new people and to interact with them. During my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with myself and my loved ones. I also enjoy listening to music.

Hi, my name is Karla! I’m a Chilean student at MacEwan University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Sociology minor. I’m passionate about mental health, its destigmatization, and creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for everyone. Hey! I’m Shalla, and I am a Bachelor of Social Work student. While I’m excited to enter my third year at MacEwan, being a student definitely comes with unique challenges and stressors that can be overwhelming and difficult to manage. I decided to join PHET because I want to help improve overall student wellbeing by promoting diverse, intentional, and inclusive ways to care for ourselves and our community. When I’m not volunteering, I am usually drawing, playing video games, running, or gardening in the summer.

Hi and Greetings, everyone! I'm Steven, and I'm a 5th-year Bachelor of Science student studying natural sciences and sustainability. This is my second year working with PHET, and I truly love health promotion programming and volunteering across campus. You may see me volunteering all across Edmonton and doing other philanthropic works. Outside of PHET and academics, I am a big foodie, so please feel free to ask anything food-related. Additionally, I enjoy random long walks, sports, running, communicating with peers, and learning new cultures & languages. Feel free to say hi and chat with me if you see me around the MacEwan campus.
