About the Sexy Educator Role:

Hamre Center for Health & Wellness Sexy Trainer - Fall 2022


Sexy Trainers promote safe, consensual, and pleasurable sex for those who choose to have sex through normalizing and facilitating conversations around sexual health and respect. We recognize that everyone has different levels of understanding, comfort and experience with sexual health and respect, and therefore has something to add to the conversation. There are no expectations that applicants have previous knowledge around sexual health and respect. Applicants should be willing to learn, approach ongoing conversations with an open mind, and be interested in and open to engaging in conversations with their peers around sex.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Fall Training for First Year Workshop facilitation

  • Facilitate First Year Workshops in which students discuss sexual health and respect and develop skills around safer sex and navigating consent

  • Plan and facilitate programming for Safer Sex and Relationships Week and Sexual Respect Month

  • Collaboration with organizations and departments at Macalester to reach students who are not traditionally centered in this work

  • Other projects based on needs


Skills Gained:

  • Increase knowledge of sexual health topics and sexual respect

  • Develop facilitation skills

  • Practical experience planning and implementing events and programs

  • Experience creating social media messaging to intentionally engage students

  • Work in community and develop relationships with fellow trainers, Hamre Center staff, and others across the Macalester community


Commitments: Expected time commitment is 2-3 hours per week during the semester. Time commitment will be higher during August training and First Year Workshop implementation, as well as during times of more intensive programming implementation throughout the year. More specific time commitments are listed with the components below.

  • Weekly team meetings [1 hour per week]

  • Pre-Fall Semester Training, 9am-4pm on August 22nd-25th, 2022 [24 hours]

  • First Year Workshops, August 31st - September 8th, 2022 [approximately 6 hours over 10 days, scheduled based on Trainer availability]

  • Engage in a mid-semester check in with a member of the professional staff


Required Qualifications:

  • Interest in learning more about sexual health and respect!

  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration within a team toward mutual goals

  • Inclusive of folks with different gender identities, sexualities, disability statuses, international and BIPOC students and thoughtful about how this can shape values, experiences, and expectations related to sexual health and respect
