In order to ensure all individual profiles of learners are met and everyone has every opportunity to achieve without limits, we assess the impact of the curriculum using our own inclusive frameworks. These frameworks recognise that, due to the nature of our learners’ cognitive needs, many will learn at engagement and/or pre-national curriculum levels. Our learners are unique, and differentiating a national curriculum designed for neurotypical learners is not suitable, so we offer something different, not differentiated.
The frameworks allow for assessment in both linear and lateral ways. All allow us to fully reflect our learners’ full range skills and to recognise and celebrate their excellence, whilst exposing them to a range of opportunities outside school and challenging them to develop further. As the frameworks are inclusive and cover all pathways, it enables us to ensure a highly individualised approach for all learners whose learning levels may vary in a range of different curriculum areas. Our inclusive frameworks are obviously very long as they all skills any learner in the school may develop over time in their whole school career.
