The Careers Curriculum at Mabel Prichard provides meaningful careers education to all learners. It builds on the skills developed across the majority of the inclusive frameworks and enables learners to explore wider aspects of the world of work at a stage that is appropriate to them.
All learners will have access to experiences of work and further education that will be worthwhile.
The Careers curriculum will aim to create active members of society and as well as work encounters and experiences, which support learners to explore the opportunities available to them around volunteering and the value of being an active citizen
All learners will access a stable careers programme by following the inclusive framework for the Careers curriculum. This ensures all learners are being taught essential skills for their adulthood.
For learners where it is appropriate, discrete lessons are timetabled around Further Education and the world of work.
Opportunities are sought to ensure appropriate information for the needs of each learner about the local labour market is shared. Learners have opportunities to engage with employers, employees and workplaces.
As part of the SKills Builder Partnership, all learners are supported to build the essential skills for a meaningful, fulfilled adulthood.
Work with OXLEP (Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership) supports practice within the school to ensure encounters and skills are offered through the curriculum and externally, thorough partnerships in the community.
At appropriate times the appropriate transition work is done and learners have access to personal guidance.
