"A Reckoning: 100 Year after the Lynchings in Duluth"
August 2020 - November 2020
An exhibition in collaboration with In Black Ink, marking the 100th anniversary of the lynching of three black men, Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson, and Isaac McGhie, in 1920 in Duluth by a white mob.
Black Ingenuity: Past, Present and Future Innovators
January 2020 - May 2020
Black Ingenuity featured blacks in Minnesota who made an impact in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields through their research, inventions and designs. Visitors learned about Frederick McKinley Jones, co-founder of Thermo King, whose refrigerated units revolutionized the long-distance transport of perishable goods. The exhibition also featured Dr. Reatha Clark King, a hidden figure in the Apollo 11 space mission, and several other innovators including Alexander Miles, Clarence "Cap" Wigington, John J. Henry and Damaris Hollingsworth. The exhibition also included programs preparing future innovators such as Minnesota STEM Partnership and Young Builders and Designers.

An exhibition on the history of the Major Taylor Bicycling Club of Minnesota opened July 2 through September 30. The Club celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. Also shown Marshall "Major" Taylor, the first African American to win the world championship cycling race in 1899.

The GRACE exhibit was curated by the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery (MAAHMG) showing at Hennepin Theatre Trust. The GRACE exhibit is a visual history of the tradition of African American women wearing hats also called "church hats." The exhibit featured artists Christopheraaron Deanes, Walter Griffin, Christopher E. Harrison, Sean G. Phillips, Melodee Strong and Angie Hall Sandifer.
Black Twin Cities: The 1940s Photographs of John F. Glanton

Exhibit featured select photographs taken by John F. Glanton which provided a rare look into the personal, professional, and social lives of the tight-knit African American community in the postwar era Twin Cities. The Glanton Collection is part of the Hennepin County Library Digital Collections. This exhibit was a partnership between the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery and the Hennepin County Library.
