This is a helpful article that gave me background knowledge of the assay that I will be using in my mammalian cell culture.
This article helped me know gain background information on what an Ames Test is and its implications on people.
This article helped me understand the health implications of e-cigarettes, especially as compared to traditional cigarettes. In his blog post, Dr. John Ross covers many studies conducted on e-cigarettes to provide a background for the issue. I learned that the American public is divided on whether they believe e-cigarettes are "more healthy" than traditional cigarettes.
This was one of the only studies conducted on e-cigarettes using Ames Test. I was surprised that the only study I could find presented a certain conflict of interest, in that it was conducted by British American Tobacco Group R&D researchers. These scientists found that the Vype e-pen (aerosolized) vapor was non-mutagenic using Ames Test assay in strains TA98 and TA100.
