Here is the information section to assist students and whānau with accessing the learning content and protocols with respect to remote learning.

  • Year 9 and 10 students should complete a project for each curriculum area. Students should make a copy of this document and then bring it back to school when we return to go through it with their Learning Advisor.

Kia ora e te whānau,

Just a quick update to clarify School Holiday dates. The Ministry of Education has released the following information:

School holidays brought forward

School holidays are being brought forward so that they are completed within the 4 week period. Holidays will now begin from Monday 30 March to Tuesday 14 April inclusive (a reminder that the Tuesday after Easter Monday is always a closed day for schools).”

This will mean that online learning will take a break over the coming two weeks. Teachers have been busy putting content in their google classrooms this week to make this available to students. Please only do what you feel comfortable with doing - do not feel like you need to get it all completed in one go.

Please encourage our young people to check in to their Google Classrooms and check their e-mails to locate these. If they are having any problems finding them they can email info@lyttonhigh.net and we will ensure they have the codes they need for when we start back after the holidays.

If students wish to complete some learning over the “holiday” period that is fine, but please do not expect teachers to be available online for one to one support etc. during this period as they also need to be looking after their well-being and their families. Our teachers will then resume online teaching Wednesday 15 April.

In the meantime, as our Prime minister stated, be strong, be kind, we will be okay!

Tuesday 15 April

Ngā mihi rā ki a koutou katoa.

Term 2 starts tomorrow (Wednesday 15th April). However, sadly school will remain closed until the lockdown is lifted. We will keep you informed about updates from the Ministry of Education via Facebook.

In terms of learning programmes all students who have devices at home can access their learning via google classroom. To access these it is important student accepts the teacher invite. To do that all they need to do is log onto google classroom or their school email (using their school accounts) and accept the invite and they will have access to current learning activities. Further support information for students and whānau on accessing the online learning is accessible below.

An update about the information provided to us last week. We have requested some digital devices from the Ministry of Education and are awaiting instructions and next steps regarding what that may look like for us and our students. We will keep you posted as soon as we know anything.

If you requested hard copy resources this information has also been given to the Ministry of Education and we are hoping these will be in the mail to you this week.

Please recognise this is NEW for us all, students, staff and whānau, there will be teething problems, there will be frustrations and some great new learning. Please also remember that our school is closed so teachers are unable to be onsite and therefore we are reliant on the Ministry of Education for devices and hard copy materials.

The most important thing we ask is that we all try and stay connected. No-one expects students to be on-line or doing school work for the duration of a 'normal' school day. Don't forget there are also new educational TV channels that will also offer some great activities that start tomorrow.

Should you have any questions or require further assistance please email slt@lyttonhigh.net or phone us on 0508 598866.
