The best way to contact the foster team is by emailing foster@lynchburghumane.org! 

This email is monitored by our foster team during our staffed hours, 7 days a week. Our goal is to always respond to everyone as quickly as we can, but please be patient in waiting for a response. At any one time, we may have between 100-600 pets in foster care!

You can call the foster office at 434-333-6343. On our busiest days, coordinators are not often in the office as we may be assisting with foster appointments or directly caring for the pets. Please be sure to leave a voicemail if you don’t catch one of us in the office, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. The foster team is alerted when a voicemail is left on our extension, but not for missed calls. Always follow up with an email!

Foster Department Hours

Our Foster Department is OPEN during the following hours every day: 

9 AM - 12 PM 

2 PM - 6 PM

If you need emergency assistance outside of these hours, please see the staff at the front desk.  These new hours allow our foster team more time to increase communication and preparation to serve our foster community better.   Thank you for your understanding and patience.

What if there is an Emergency? 

If you are having an emergency during our staffed hours, please bring the pet straight to the LHS Center for Pets. There is always someone at LHS between 9 AM and 6 PM every day! If possible, contact LHS staff that you are en route with an emergent case so we can be prepared. 

After Hours? 

After hours, contact the emergency contact at 434-473-1383. Please leave a message and someone will reach back out to you! This line is monitored by a member of the medical team, who can either walk you through the problem or approve you to go to Animal Emergency and Critical Care of Lynchburg.
