Process from start to finish: Hiring Flow Chart
Dear Lynchburg Colleagues,
I am writing to announce the establishment of a formal University Hiring Committee, effective immediately. This committee will ensure fiscal responsibility and strategic alignment in hiring for all new and backfilled professional and graduate assistant positions.
The Hiring Committee is comprised of:
Kristen Cooper, VP for University Experience and Student Success
Price Jett, VP for Finance and Operations
Dr. Daniel Hall, VP and Chief of Staff
All requests for new or vacant professional and graduate assistant positions must be submitted to and approved by the Hiring Committee before any posting or recruitment activity. This process will allow for a thorough review of each position, ensuring that it aligns with the University's strategic goals and budgetary considerations.
The Hiring Committee will convene every two weeks to review requests for submitted positions (staff, faculty, GAs). To facilitate this process, we have developed a standardized Hiring Request Form for hiring managers to use when submitting positions.
We strongly encourage hiring managers to provide detailed and comprehensive information when completing the Hiring Request Form. This will enable the committee to make informed decisions and expedite the review process. Information regarding the position's role, responsibilities, budget impact, and strategic alignment with the department and university goals are critical to the committee's review.
In certain instances, hiring managers may be invited to attend the Hiring Committee meetings to address specific inquiries related to their position proposals. This will provide an opportunity for direct dialogue and clarification.
We understand that this new process may require adjustments, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we implement this initiative to ensure responsible and strategic hiring practices across the University.
Thank you for your commitment to the University's excellence.
Sincerely,
Daniel
