I feel like I’ve won the lottery because STEAM is such a fun and engaging topic. I love my job and the enthusiastic students who come to my class. The question I get asked the most is, “When do I get to come to your class again?” This will be my 8th year teaching STEAM at Sumac, and my 10th year teaching STEAM. I am a California Credentialed teacher with a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Design. My father and brother are rocket engineers, so I grew up going to rocket launches and discussing the Shuttle missions. STEAM is an exciting hands-on, fast paced environment where children spend time thinking, collaborating, inventing, experimenting, designing and painting. Every class session is different. Some classes include my custom educational art videos. Most classes include recent, fun, entertaining you-tube clips that tie the art, science and engineering together and show that STEAM is going on every day and is relevant and current. There are employment opportunities and the sky is the limit.I feel honored that I get to watch the next generation of passionate artists, scientists and engineers grow before my eyes.
