Welcome!
Hello, Families and Future First Graders!
My name is Mrs. Rivera, and I am so excited to welcome you to our first‑grade classroom. I’m thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year and excited for the journey ahead as we learn and grow together.
A little about me...
I am a mother of three wonderful children- Lucia (15), a dancer going into her sophomore at Westlake High School, Niko (13), a baseball and soccer player going into 8th grade, and Melo (9), a spirited and athletic future third grader. I enjoy reading, watching Dodger games with my family, taking spontaneous trips and drinking coffee :). Independent book stores and coffee shops might be my two favorite things...and Disneyland, of course! This summer, my family and I went to Jersey and the Poconos to visit my mom's side of the family and we also spent a few days in Mammoth. We enjoyed taking impromptu day trips whenever all three kids had a free day...which isn't nearly as often as I'd like!
I have been in education for twenty years, and early literacy is my jam! I’m extremely passionate about creating a fun and engaging environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed! At this age, I believe the most important thing I can do for my students is to instill a love of learning. When a young mind is excited about learning, everything else will come. That being said, we will have a BLAST this year!
I am so excited for my second year at Round Meadow and so very much appreciate your support and trust with your babies. I am looking forward to an incredible year!
Warmly,
Mrs. Rivera
