Vocal Coach

Mateo Gonzales is an alumnus of LVUSD schools and has returned as a coach for A. E. Wright's vocal program. He is a graduate from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music where he majored in Popular Music, with an emphasis in Vocals and Songwriting.

Mateo is an experienced session vocalist, top-liner, and award-winning arranger. He has performed and recorded background vocals with artists like Pentatonix, Libianca, and Trousdale. As a songwriter, he currently works with Challenge America as a part of their Music Therapy Retreats, which help veterans struggling with PTSD to cope with the trauma of their military experience.

More recently, he has coached both Unstrumental and Bare Rhythm, Calabasas High School’s award-winning a cappella groups. Under his direction, Unstrumental advanced to the finals of the International Championship of High School A Cappella in New York City, performing his arrangements.
