Independent Reading ~ 2025-26

Independent READING - WARP 

8th graders will always read independently! [At times, students will be reading more than one text.]

This includes:

• Book Clubs [3-4 students read the same novel]

• Core Novels [class novel study]

• Student choice [each student chooses]

Following the completion of book clubs & class novel study, students will read independently. When the time comes, various options for selecting books and obtaining copies will be provided.  

As long as we are on campus, Accelerated Reader quizzes will be required. Students must read two novels independently and pass the AR quizzes [70%] each quarter [10 weeks].  [Honors = 3 books/quarter]

Students will complete various projects, independent assignments, assessments, and classwork related to their independent reading selections.  

Note: 

To take an AR Quiz, students must complete and submit all required projects and/or assignments.  

Students MUST present a 2025-26 AEW Student ID card and return all classroom/library books to take a WARP test.
