First Day of Kindergarten

The 1st day of school is Wed., August 24th !

On this special first day of school, you will walk your child to my classroom, Room D3. Read the signs so you can help him/her follow directions. Please be sure to take your child's Back and Forth folder HOME with you today (and return it tomorrow, in your child's backpack).

We will participate in an activity altogether (should be done between 8:45 and 9:00), and then you will confidently hug your child goodbye with the promise to see them at for pick up at 11:30.

Saying good-bye: This is often the hardest part for your kiddo and YOU. Be confident, assure them that you will see them in a few hours, and promptly leave campus. If your child cries or doesn't want you to leave, I will help! Remaining on campus often amplifies separation anxiety. Understand that leaving your child may be difficult, but is vital for your child's transition into Kindergarten. I promise this will get easier for your little one, but on the first day, it is very important that you leave with confidence (blowing kisses the whole time!).

Dismissal is at 11:30 (Wednesdays ONLY). Our meeting place for dismissal is in the courtyard just outside of the Willow Office. Remember to bring your PINK sign (it's in your child's folder) and wait outside of the circular courtyard.

Your child will only need a snack (no lunch on minimum days) for the first day. Please make sure your child’s snack and water bottle are labeled with his/her name.

Parking Tip for First Time Families: Plan parking, carpooling or walking to campus with the understanding there are very few visitor parking spots available in the school parking lot. The majority of spots are assigned to staff a staff member responsible for the care and supervision of our children. Make sure to leave the house extra early, so that you, and your child, arrives on time.

I can't wait to meet you all!
