This February we are celebrating Valentines Day and all of the different types of love we feel for each other and for our favorite things. Our favorite things are books and YOU! We hope you know that you are always loved and welcome here in the Media Center.
Of course, sometimes love can result in a broken heart - so if you feel like a good cry this Valentines Day, come check out a book from our "Love Hurts" display (and don't forget the tissues!)
Our book display for Black History Month has lots of interesting fiction and non-fiction written by and about African Americans. Check some out to learn more about Black history and the African American experience.
“Empathy is the art of stepping imaginatively into the shoes of another person, understanding their feelings and perspectives, and using that understanding to guide your actions." - Roman Krznaric
Come check out our horse-themed book display and find out what animal you are according to the Chinese Zodiac!
Chinese New Year, also called Lunar New Year, is an important holiday celebrated by millions of people around the world, especially in China and other parts of Asia. It marks the beginning of a new year based on the lunar calendar, which follows the phases of the moon, so the date changes each year. The celebration usually lasts about 15 days and includes family gatherings, special foods, fireworks, and colorful parades with dragon and lion dances. Each year is connected to one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac, such as the dragon, tiger, or rabbit, which are believed to influence people’s personalities and luck. Chinese New Year is a time to honor family, welcome good fortune, and start fresh for the year ahead.

The Media Center is all about giving students access to information and ideas. We strive to be a safe and welcoming space for all students. Whether looking for a great book, researching for a project, or just wanting a quiet space to read, we invite all of our AEW kids to join us in the library!
We are also open for students at lunchtime to eat and socialize. We have chess, board games, Lego, as well as our Makerspace for students to engage and play with friends.

What you need to know if you want to check out books from the library:
The loan period for a library book is 21 school days. If the book is not returned or renewed by the due date, the book will be considered overdue. Students with charges or overdue materials may not check out additional books until their record is cleared. All materials checked out under a student's name are his or her responsibility.
The current A.E. Wright ID Card is required to check out materials and take WARP tests.
Students may check out three books at a time for a period of three weeks.
Books may be renewed for an additional three weeks, if other students are not waiting for that book.
Students may request that a hold be placed to reserve a title for check-out. Visit the circulation desk and place your request.
Students with overdue materials may not checkout new books, or take WARP Quizzes, until overdue items are returned.
Students are expected to be courteous and respectful at all times.
