Students will be participating in the world renowned NatureBridge outdoor education program where they will take part in an intensive inquiry-based, hands-on field science experience.
A classroom like no other: Students hike through the dramatic landscapes of Yosemite, explore ancient groves of forests, hike across snowy meadows, and challenge themselves to reach the tops of waterfalls.
Inquiry-based learning: Students explore the geologic history of the Sierra Nevada; engage in field research projects, such as macroinvertebrate biomonitoring; and discover how the environment has supported humans, from the early Miwok to the present.
Inspired to action: Students are empowered to see how their actions impact their community and the world around them through service learning projects, such as removing invasive species that threaten biodiversity in the Park.
Students must be in excellent physical health as they will be hiking up to 4 - 10 miles each day with an elevation gain of up to 2,500 feet. If you are not a hiker, this may not be the trip for you. If you are, you will learn about geology, botany, ecology, natural history, and astronomy, within one of the most spectacular places on Earth.
