Mrs. Skidmore

Welcome to 5th Grade!

I am so excited to be your child's teacher this school year. Fifth grade is such a wonderful year for building independence, exploring new and exciting curricula, and continuing to discover and make connections throughout. We will work together to create a meaningful year of learning and growing through these ever-changing times.  5th graders, if you are reading this, please bring me a note by Friday with your name and your favorite thing to do at recess by Friday, August 25th.

Who is Mrs. Skidmore

This is my 18th year in education. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades during that time. This is my 11th year at Willow! Previously I taught at Lupin Hill Elementary and Bay Laurel Elementary in Calabasas. I live in Thousand Oaks with my husband Brian and our two children. Juliet is twelve years old and is starting 7th grade. Archer is eight years old and is starting 3rd grade. In my free time, I enjoy trips to the beach, painting/art projects, hiking, cooking, reading, and spending time with people I love.

One of my focuses is Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). I'm passionate about teaching students to become emotion scientists who can recognize, label, and regulate their emotions. My goal is to inspire learning, foster connection, and allow your child to engage in this shared experience in a new and more meaningful way than ever before.

Here's to a great year ahead!
