To start the year, I will be sending messages through email and Google Classroom. I will also send messages to your child's student email when I think it is information they might use on their own devices. I will send weekly agendas and also post them on Google Classroom.
Supply Baskets- Please have your Red Supply Basket at every Zoom meeting. Do not start work on any of the papers until I give you directions! Keep the basket neat and in the same order so it will be easy to find papers/workbooks when I direct you. :)

We will be Zoom meeting in whole and small groups throughout each school day. The class will also Zoom with the Specialists starting Aug. 31. Most Zoom meetings will be 30 minutes long. Some days, I will meet with individuals to conference or assess. I will send an agenda each week with times your child will be Zooming. I recommend setting an alarm or calendar with reminders to help get to each Zoom meeting on time. :)
Some finished work will be turned in via Google Classroom or Seesaw. All finished work will go in the Return Envelope. We will have another Materials Drop off and Pick up in about 4 weeks.

CCC Language Arts program. We will be focusing on becoming better readers and writers this year! Help your child to build reading and writing stamina at home as we are in class. Also, encourage your child to find "good-fit" books by checking that they can read most of the words on a page in the book they are reading. We also teach kids to check for understanding by answering the questions Who? and What? after each page. They will have a weekly Reading Log that will need to be turned in each Friday with parent initials.
Go Math- Generally, I will introduce a lesson and practice the concept with the class, then they will work on the lesson independently. Later that day or the following day, we will correct and review the lesson together. Students will need to "turn in" the assignment by posting it on Google Classroom. Students have opportunities to watch lesson videos and have interactive online practice of math concepts through the Think Central online component of our math program.
Scholastic News- Students will read, discuss, and answer comprehension questions on non-fiction articles covering both science and social studies topics. They will also have opportunities to further enrich their learning with the online component of Scholastic News.
Studies Weekly-Students will read and discuss a variety of 2nd grade social studies standards and answer comprehension questions from each lesson. They can also use the online program to further enhance their learning on of these topics.
Mystery Science- Students will watch Mystery Science videos and complete assignments/experiments that address different 2nd grade science standards.
