Students NEED to read at least 15 minutes Daily.

This will be the only required homework while we are virtual: Reading Logs are due EVERY Friday. Please be sure to initial the daily entries before submitting them on Google Classroom. I am very excited to see all of the kids that are reading above and beyond the required minutes!

When we RETURN to school:

Math homework will be assigned Daily.

Math: Math homework is generally a review of the day's math lesson with a spiral review of previous lessons. The gray lesson page is to be completed each day and turned in the next day. The day's lesson on the color pages are introduced, practiced, and reviewed together in class each day. I send them home each day to use as a reference for the homework. It has examples of how the concept was taught and practiced in class. I recommend that you save the pages to review before the Chapter Test. I will also send home a Chapter Review that was completed and corrected in class. Parents can help students review the concepts before the test.

IXL: Students can reinforce math and language arts skills, preview new 2nd grade skills, as well as have enrichment activities with 2nd grade concepts on ixl.com. We will be able to track your child's progress and number of questions answered when they sign in. Usernames and passwords have been sent home with the student. Skills get progressively more challenging as you move down in a sub-section. If you want your child to have more of a challenge, help them choose a skill from the 2nd half of the math concept. For example, have them choose E.10 rather than E.1. I will recognize the top IXL King and Queen .

Raz-Kids (Kids Ato Z): Students can reinforce their reading skills by listening to stories, re- reading them, then answering story questions. Story selections are at student's independent reading levels and can be accessed through the link below. Teacher username, student username and password will be sent home soon.

Spelling: The spelling concept is embedded in the story/skills test the second week of the story. Students will be expected to apply the spelling pattern in their writing. We recommend using the second grade sight word list as an at-home reference. A great resource for practicing the spelling words is to practice on Spelling City.

Math Fact Practice: Many students need to practice their addition and subtraction facts. Use flash cards to help or try Arcademic Skillbuilders. The kids can play racing games with their addition and subtraction facts to build their fluency. They don't need to put their name in, just play the game. It's a fun one!
