Birthdays

Virtual Birthdays:

We recognize birthdays with a special Happy Birthday song. If a birthday is on the weekend, we recognize their birthday on the Friday before. If a birthday is in the summer, we will plan to celebrate them in June.

When we return to school:

Birthdays are special days and won’t be overlooked in our classroom. Due to the district nutrition policy, no treats. Healthy snacks are welcome. If you would like to send a wrapped book or school appropriate board game with your child for his/her birthday, they will have an opportunity to lead the class in an activity with the wrapped item and he or she can read or play the game first.

You are not obligated to do this, but I think it is a meaningful way for your child to share his/her birthday in a special way with the class. Please email me if you plan to send something in with your child so I can be on the look-out.

On the day of your child's birthday, I will pass out a special pencil and we will sing as a class. We will make your child feel special whether or not they bring anything in.

Weekend and holiday birthdays will be celebrated the Monday or Friday nearest the actual day. Summer birthdays will be celebrated in June. An e-mail will be sent at the beginning of June to coordinate summer birthdays.
