Welcome to the Granada Choir! Each week the choir practices music, has Ukulele Wednesdays, and spends time with their friends to work toward an end of trimester concert. The choir practices in Music Room 2 under the instruction of George Pascoe, who often plays piano along with the singing voices of the choir. Music brings people together, and no matter the skill level of the person walking into the music room, their presence is appreciated and respected. Choir allows students to build on their musical skills, learning not only songs and vocal exercises, but the possibility of learning ukulele from their classmates for Wednesday rehearsals. The Granada Music Department wants students to have time to express themselves throughout the week, in the hopes of educating students musically and allowing students to have a creative period in their school schedule. The atmosphere of acceptance in the music rooms also allows students a place for students to express themselves freely, both musically and personally. Each trimester of the year, the choir and the orchestra perform at an off-campus venue, 1st Presbyterian Church in Livermore, allowing students to have the chance to perform in a new environment and share their voices with different surroundings. Granada’s choir has recently been re-started after a few gap years, and now the ensemble is growing, developing, and looking forward to the possibility of seeing even more new students join the choir in the upcoming school year.
