Helpful Information

Absences, Dismissal and end of day plans

Parents MUST send an email to your child’s teacher AND primaryoffice@lunenburgschools.net in the morning. Please date your letter, include your child’s full name, and indicate what the change in arrangement is and what your child will not be doing, that is part of the typical routine. The Primary School will only accept telephone calls to change a child’s after school arrangements, or to dismiss a child early in the case of an emergency.

Lunch and Snack

If your child is bringing lunch from home, please send it in a lunch box or a bag. Please also send your child in with a water bottle EVERY day. Refillable water bottles usually work best, if possible. Please also be sure to send in a snack EVERY day that is peanut/tree nut free for allergy purposes as we have snack in the classroom. In addition, if your child has a snack that requires any utensils, please be sure to pack these as well.

Birthdays

Unfortunately, due to different allergies, we do not celebrate birthdays with any food items. Your child's birthday will be recognized by myself and the class. Our administration will also provide your child with a birthday pencil on the day of their birthday for them to keep at school or take home.

Unified arts:

Unified Arts will be on a rotation. Your child will have the same Unified Art for 10 school days then rotate to a new one. This is helpful for Unified Arts teachers as it allows them to start and finish projects, get to know the children better, and establish more consistent rules and routines together.

Scholastic Book orders

Scholastic book orders are a great way to get your child excited about reading and build their at-home classroom library. In addition, any purchase you make for your child gives us classroom points that we can redeem to buy more books for our classroom library as well!

Our Class Code to order books from Scholastic is: RJHNM

Snow

*Please be sure to LABEL ALL WINTER GEAR as best as possible. We have many duplicates so items often get mixed up and with 24 pairs of mittens, gloves, and hats you can imagine how often things are lost. Names help immensely :)

*If you have an extra set of winter gear that you would like your child to just leave at school rather than bring to and from school each day, please put it in a large reusable bag and send me a message to let me know they are keeping it here.

*In order for your child to play in any part of the snow, they will need FULL snow gear. This includes but is not limited to: jacket, snow pants, SNOW boots  (waterproof), hat, gloves/mittens. If your child does not have these items, they will not be permitted to play in the snow and will play on the hard top area of the playground. If your child is in need of snow gear, please be sure to reach out as we have some resource that may be helpful.

CORI Forms for volunteering

In order to volunteer in our classroom or in the school, you MUST have an updated CORI form. You must get this form filled out and passed into the office. You will need to do this in person as they will need take your information as well as a copy of your license. This process can take a few weeks to clear, so please have this done early before you plan to volunteer.
