Now in life, not every relationship blooms, some wither, some drain and suffocate us, they teach us lessons we never see coming. Relationships are not supposed to make us glow down but up. We start losing ourselves and try to hold onto and salvage something that is already destroyed. There are times we need to escape the prison into refuge; a place of safety and peace. Getting there takes time ,honesty, courage and methods to point us to the truth.
You know it's toxic when you constantly have to walk on eggshells around and when your energy feels drained instead of replenished when you are with them. That should be a wake up call to stop, drop (the relationship) and instead of roll……. Sprint.
First, identify the red flags and recognize that the relationship is crossing boundaries it should not, protect your peace.
Sometimes when we are in relationships, we get so caught up, so blinded by comfort that we can't see the red flags waving right in our faces. But once you do, pause. Do not ignore your gut. But immediately you see it, it's time to leave. DON’T YOU DARE waste your precious time and peace to be with someone who doesn't appreciate you. It's not worth it . If they truly valued you and acknowledged you, they would never let you question your worth.
Communicate with each other; staying silent worsens your situation.
Have an honest and truthful conversation with your partner, sit down together not to argue but to understand each other and the situation. Point out to your partner what your worries, pains and confusion are. With real honesty, the relationship can heal and grow to a new level. But if they refuse to acknowledge your concerns, that tells you everything.
Enough is Enough, LEAVE, know your worth
Choosing to leave doesn't make you weak, it reasserts your value. It's not easy leaving something like that but it's really brave. When you leave you reclaim yourself once again and start the journey of healing.
Once you walk away, take the time to heal and reestablish yourself. Take yourself on a walk, learn a new hobby, go on a solo date; breathe again. In doing this, connect with people who uplift and find yourself again. Do not forget, grow from it, the situation came for a reason so snatch the lesson it gave and carry it with you and add it to your satchel of life.
