2021 SUMMER CAMPS

Lufkin GEAR UP sponsored five summer camps for the Class of 2024 & the Class of 2025:

LHS Empower Summer Camp - Young ladies from the Class of 2025 participated in activities and discussions about: self-care, empowerment, setting intentions and sisterhood. An all female panel discussion led by LHS alumni provided the students with much needed advice and mentoring.

LHS STEM & IPC Camp - Students were able to learn how the human body work. They used lab equipment and coding to complete design challenges, defeat zombies and build a model human heart that beats.

SFA IMAS - Students travelled to the SFA campus each day for activities that included activities in the fields of: nursing, engineering, chemistry, architecture and computer science. Students were able to  have college experiences, take a field trip and have some summer fun in the SFA Rec Center pool.

LHS Robotics Camp - Students were placed in teams to build and program a robot and compete in challenges. On the final day of camp, parents were invited so students could showcased their experiences.

This lesson focused on who we are and accepting ourselves as we are.

We identified ways to reduce conflict and drama with our friends.
