Every other week or so you can check here for the "ASK ME" sheet! This is a wonderful way to get a sneak peek as to what we are up to in Music class. Some weeks they will sing you a song, other times you may learn a dance from them. Please ask and have fun!
You will find them below to look back on throughout the year!
Students know the refrain:
"Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of clay,
dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, then dreidel I shall play!"
Have your student sing and show you the moves to "Go 'Round the Mountain"
"Show me your finger, too dee diddle dum, too dee diddle dum. Show me your finger, too dee diddle dum, dum.
"Go find a partner, too dee diddle dum, too dee diddle dum. Go find a partner, too dee diddle dum, dum.
"Go 'round the mountain, too dee diddle dum, too dee diddle dum. Go 'round the mountain, too dee diddle dum, dum!"
"Oh, the horse stood around with his foot on the ground, oh the horse stood around with is foot on the ground. Oh, the horse stood around with his foot on the ground.
Same horse- other foot!
Same horse- changing feet!
Same horse- both feet!"
Play a song from the radio, or your phone! Ask them a question about:
How does the song make them feel?
What's the tempo (fast or slow)?
*If you need a song idea- visit this one!
Sing the shape of the line on "Oooo", then make your own!
*Use your finger to help you follow*
"Under the spreading chestnut tree,
when you sat upon my knee,
we were happy as can be,
under the spreading chestnut tree."
Use your name instead!
" ________ over the Ocean,
________ over the sea,
________ caught a big fish!
_______ can't catch me!"
Peep squirrel, peep squirrel
Do da, diddle dum, do da diddle dum
Peep squirrel, peep squirrel
Do da, diddle dum dum.
This is the tree with leaves so green
These are the apples that hang in between
When the wind blows, the apples will fall,
Here is the basket to carry them all.
Have your student go first, and then you echo them. Should be on an "ooo" vowel sound.
Create a soup for you with "Chop, Chop, Chippity Chop"
Sing the song for you! Make sure they are stirring their stick around to get the frog out!
We have a constant "Wish List" on Amazon that would help us with our curriculum needs. As the lessons are always evolving, I find myself needing replacement instruments and new literature to share with the students. Here is the link and QR code to check out if you are interested!
