Parents and students are always welcome to communicate with Dr. Allen via email at joshua.allen@lubbockisd.org. Every effort will be made to respond in a timely manner. However, please allow additional time during weekends and holidays.
Frequently throughout the school year, information regarding upcoming events, concerts, financial statements, and/or assignments will be sent to parents. The most effective way for information to be provided to all parents and students is through email distributed through Cut Time or Thrillshare Rooms. Please be sure to provide your most frequently used email address to receive these communications. Additionally, information will be sent home with students via printed announcements and informative flyers, as needed. If further communication is required, the director may be contacted at 806.219.2203 during conference hours or after school.
Cut Time is an online database used by Talkington’s music directors to organize many facets of our programs, including communication, instrument rental, concert dress assignment, and all financials. Returning students and parents may access their information by logging in at app.gocuttime.com using the Parent or Student login at the bottom. Cut Time uses a unique SMS "Magic Link" for each specific account. It is recommended that this link is saved or bookmarked for frequent access to the platform. Additionally, Cut Time allows for email and SMS communication.
It is important that the contact information in the student area is updated regularly and includes a student email address (non-lisd) and parent email address. This system is used regularly for communication and both parents and students are strongly encouraged to check their Cut Time account often.
Much of the digital resources (e.g., performance recordings, assignment rubrics, announcements, documents) provided to students are accessible on Google Classroom. Google Classroom may be accessed on school-assigned Chromebooks during school and at home on personal technology, including smartphones. Students are strongly encouraged to access Google Classroom for their orchestra class regularly.
