Communication

Parents and students are absolutely invited to stay in contact with their orchestra director should they have questions, need information clarification, or need to provide information regarding a student or the orchestra program. Information between a parent/student and the orchestra director is kept 100% confidential, unless otherwise needed per Lubbock ISD policy.

Google Classroom

Lubbock ISD has adopted the Google Suite platform for student use. This includes access to email, cloud storage, and applications for creating word documents, slideshow presentations and spreadsheets. The most connected educational tool the students can use is the Google Classroom. This platform will virtually connect the students with their school courses in addition what is presented in the physical classroom.

The orchestra Google Classroom supports most of the materials a student will need for class, save access to instruments and copyrighted music. Orchestra students are expected to use Google Classroom to upload their weekly practice videos or assignments, check for updates to orchestra event schedules, and access materials they might need to navigate their musical success.

Parents are encouraged to link a personal email account to keep track of their students' progress and access the same materials or notification updates. This can eliminate the a lot of miscommunication or misunderstandings a student may have.

CHARMS

ALL orchestral students will use the CHARMS online system. CHARMS is a time-saving, information and communication hub used to help our orchestral programs and students stay organized and up-to-date. Each student’s CHARMS profile will record their information and connection to the Coronado High School orchestra program.

Locate the “Parent/Student Login” section of the web page. The parent/student login code for Coronado High School is: CHSOrchestra (case-sensitive).

Enter your student’s Lubbock ISD student ID at the “Student ID/Password” prompt. (After logging in, you may create your own unique password.)

Here you can update the student information. (This information is safe and NEVER shared with any 3rd party.) It is used to send emails with orchestra news, upcoming events, etc. Handouts and forms will be located in the CHARMS account.

Students will also have access to multimedia recordings and videos relevant to class instruction or repertoire being performed. Please use this resource and keep your information up-to-date. Charms is used district-wide by all fine arts staff in Lubbock ISD.

BAND App

As a replacement for Remind, we will be using the Band App. There are many reviews that praise the ease of access and use of this communication tool, and is FREE. Join the CHS Orchestras group AND your ensemble group. Here you can quickly communicate with the director, access a calendar of events and find files related to the orchestra program.
