Together, the orchestra students learn beginning and intermediate skills related to performing on string instruments and reading music. Some of these skills include reading rhythms and pitches, as well identifying clefs, fingerings, bowing/plucking styles, critical listening, cooperation, dependability, and many more!
4th grade orchestra consists of lessons once each six-day cycle. There are no performances in 4th grade. This year is spent establishing fundamental skills like instrument care, reading music, and using the instrument correctly.
5th and 6th grade orchestras have one lesson each six-day cycle, as well performing two concerts each year, one in the Winter and one in the Spring. As a member of 5th or 6th grade orchestras, these performances are required.
