If you are going to be away from the classroom and will have a substitute teacher these are just some good tips, resources, and tools that you have available to you:
x:8637 - East Technology Office | x:8606 - Central Technology Office
Laptops: If your substitute will need access to a laptop, you will have to leave your LTHS issued laptop for them to use. There is a guest account they can use under Help Guides so do not give them any passwords.
If you need a device while you're away from your classes, we can issue you a Chromebook for you to use. It has access to all the same tools that you use on a daily basis like Google Drive, Gmail, Infinite Campus, etc.
Showing Movies: If your film is on SWANK (the media center streaming service) or on a publicly accessible website like PBS or YouTube, the best method is to post the link on your Google Classroom pages and instruct students to watch the film on their Chromebook with headphones.
If a substitute teacher must show a film on the Viewboard that you have, the easiest set up for them to have them utilize your laptop that you left and set it up to be wired to the projector with your HDMI cable. See the "Connection Guide" in the help section and see page 2 (wired connection). You can also pre schedule to have someone from the Technology Department assist in setup if it's a scheduled absence by filling out a help ticket (email ithelpdesk@lths.org).
Headphones: If you assign work for your students that require they bring headphone or work independently, we can provide some very cheap/generic wired headphones for students to use when they "forget theirs". The sub can call down to x:8792 (TAC at East) or x:8606 (Tech at Central) for some to be dropped off at either campus.
Student Chromebook Issues: Sub notes should include instructions that students with Chromebook troubles should be sent to the Technology Assistance Center (east campus) or Tech Office (central campus). We will either provide a loaner Chromebook and send them back to class or correct the issue.
Guest Speakers: if you'd like to have a guest speaker come to the school or join via a Google Meet they might need access to google products or resources. If that's the case you can use the guest speaker account under the Help Guides. This works if you need them to join a Google Meet and they do not have a personal Google Account, they can temporarily use this one.
