Since 1995, I have had the pleasure of working in many school districts around the Kansas City area, as well as a hospital-based school teacher for Children's Mercy Hospital. I have worked with kids from birth to the college level. All of my experiences have helped me to become a well-rounded professional. I use a cognitively-guided approach to teaching mathematics. This method allows students to understand math on a much deeper level, providing many "Ah-Ha" moments. I believe math is magical and I consider it an honor to partner with students as they discover their inner Einstein.

I grew up in Hillsboro, Missouri. This is a rural town 30 miles south of St. Louis. I met my husband, Greg, while attending Missouri State University and followed him to Kansas City. At MSU, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in the area of Elementary Education/Special Education. I also have a Master’s Degree as a Math Specialist from University of Central Missouri. I have spent all of my adult life in Kansas City. I lived in Lee's Summit for 14 years before moving to Raymore. Greg and I have two girls. Kylie is attending Northwest MO State University and studying Psychology. Addison is a junior at Ray-Pec High School. Both girls have amazing voices and have been performing in theater since the age of 3. Addison also plays competitive volleyball.

I love to swim, boat, read, sing, go to Broadway shows, laugh, sing, watch Greg play Fortnite, sing, cook, Zentangle, do mathy things and sing. I love animals, too. We currently have two Shih Tzu female dogs: Coco and Lulu. They love to sing too! (see video below)

Something about me: Random words and phrases make me think of musical lyrics. Yes...I do sing them aloud when I think about them!

Watch Coco sing with Kylie by clicking on the video below. The video is only 1 minute and 12 seconds long.
